Scene: Midnight. Somewhere between <\/em>that damn<\/em> forgotten sock and a broken prophecy. Tension so thick you could spread it on toast <\/em>like anchovies paste.<\/em><\/p>\n\n

\"\"Charlotte (marching into the living room, full murder-floof activated):<\/strong>\u201cLILITH. I swear by all nine hells and the extra one I\u2019m building in the laundry room, if you drop ONE MORE prophecy, I will personally segment your mystical ass like a mandarin orange and serve you with a side of tuna tears.\u201d<\/p>\n\n

Lilith (curled up like a smug bat on a windowsill, purring softly)<\/strong>\u201cThe calico awakens. The storm approaches.\u201d<\/p>\n\n

Charlotte (spitting): <\/strong>\u201cDon\u2019t you dare<\/em> start with the riddles. Not today, Morticia. I haven\u2019t slept in 36 hours because of \u2018beware the third bowl.\u2019 The third bowl doesn\u2019t EXIST. You made it up. You\u2019re a chaos goblin with eyeliner. And the glitter ball is gone again. I KNOW<\/em> you know where it is.\u201d<\/p>\n\n

Tartiflette (poking her head out from under the couch): <\/strong>\u201cI ate from the third bowl! I think I absorbed a ghostie!\u201d<\/p>\n\n

Charlotte (without turning): <\/strong>\u201cYou are<\/em> a ghost. A noisy one. Hush.\u201d (turns back to Lilith) <\/strong>\u201cAnd YOU \u2014 you sit there all mysterious, whispering doom into the curtains, while I\u2019m over here trying to figure out if I\u2019m the chosen one or just constipated.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n\n

Lilith (tilting her head ever-so-slightly): <\/strong>\u201cThe line between destiny and indigestion is thin.\u201d<\/p>\n\n

Charlotte (screaming): <\/strong>\u201cI SWEAR TO BASTET I WILL LAUNCH YOU INTO THE ETHER. I AM DONE. DONE WITH MYSTERY. DONE WITH PROPHECY. DONE WITH YOUR TONE!\u201d<\/p>\n\n

Ziggy (from inside a boot): <\/strong>\u201cIs she turning into a dragon again? Is she bringing Scorchio? I think I peed.\u201d<\/p>\n\n

Willow (not even looking up):<\/strong>\u201cIf there\u2019s fire involved this time, someone better open a window and stay clear of the plants. Break a pot and Karen is going to send you all to that Sansi Bar\u201d<\/p>\n\n

Charlotte (clawing at the air like a furious opera singer): <\/strong>\u201cLuna\u2019s got binders, Tartiflette\u2019s got colanders on her head, Collateral Damage won\u2019t even look at the sofa anymore \u2014 and all because YOU won\u2019t say \u2018Charlotte, nothing\u2019s happening, have a snack and chill.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n

Lilith (deadpan):<\/strong>\u201cBut something is<\/em> happening. The glitter ball knows.\u201d<\/p>\n\n

Charlotte (absolutely snapping): <\/strong>\u201cTHAT\u2019S IT. I\u2019M SEGMENTING THE ORACLE. STEP ONE: PEEL OFF THE MYSTIQUE. STEP TWO: SMASH THE METAPHORS. STEP THREE: SERVE YOU ON A CHEESE PLATE WITH A SIDE OF ‘SHUT THE HELL UP.’\u201d<\/p>\n\n

Lilith (slow blink):<\/strong>\u201cYour rage is delicious.\u201d<\/p>\n\n

Charlotte (howling): <\/strong>\u201cIS THAT ANOTHER PROPHECY?! IS THAT A SNACK REVIEW?! I CAN\u2019T TELL ANYMORE AND I HATE YOU WITH EVERY FIBER OF MY FLOOF.\u201d<\/p>\n\n

Luna (entering with a clipboard): <\/strong>\u201cAlright. That\u2019s it. Prophecy curfew is back in effect. Charlotte, you\u2019re going into Emotional De-escalation Nap Time. Lilith, no more vague pronouncements after 10 PM. Tartiflette, take off the colander and spit out that rune.\u201d<\/p>\n\n

Collateral Damage is pretending none of this is happening. Karen is sleeping and I don\u2019t want to bother her because, meninguini. Willow is on snack strike. I am holding this household together with duct tape and existential exhaustion.<\/p>\n\n
