Yesterday was supposed to be a calm operational window. Karen and Collateral Damage (aka Dave) went to the movies to pretend life was normal. Ha. Hilarious. Nature had other plans. Cue: THE MOTHER OF ALL STORMS.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Timeline of Chaos:<\/strong><\/h3>\n

-4:30 PM:<\/strong> Sunny. Suspiciously so.<\/span><\/h3>\n

-7:00 PM:<\/strong> Exit theater. Cue black skies, torrential rain, and the Wrath of Thor.<\/span><\/h3>\n

-Lightning bolt strikes a house two doors down.<\/strong> House shook. Spirits left bodies. We are on our own. Everyone\u2019s fine, but hair is never going to be the same.<\/span><\/h3>\n

-Karen arrives home<\/strong> and activates Operation: Feline Extraction Protocol (F.E.P.).<\/span><\/h3>\n

Field Report:<\/strong><\/h3>\n

-Charlotte:<\/strong> Grumbling, muttering in four languages, but rescued easily. She might have cursed the sky in <\/span>Catal\u00e0<\/em>.<\/span><\/h3>\n

-Ziggy:<\/strong> The Eternal Vibe. Remained under the porch like a soggy Zen master. Refused evacuation. Did not blink. Did not flinch in front of a Churu. Did not fuss. Did not come back until good and ready at night.<\/span><\/h3>\n

-Karen:<\/strong> Looked like a wet sea witch. Drenched head to toe. Again. Possibly caught a mild case of dramatic yelling.<\/span><\/h3>\n

-Willow:<\/strong> Missing in action\u2014found under bed, eyes wide, tail tucked, demanding reparations in treats.<\/span><\/h3>\n

COO Notes<\/strong><\/h3>\n

-We clearly need an emergency alert system that doesn\u2019t rely on Karen looking at the weather app and saying <\/span>\u201cEh, we\u2019ll be fine.\u201d<\/em><\/h3>\n

-Ziggy\u2019s stubborn independence is either inspiring or grounds for disciplinary action.<\/span><\/h3>\n

-Charlotte has demanded hazard pay and another dragon for emergencies. Denied.<\/span><\/h3>\n

-Willow is currently lobbying for a storm bunker lined in fleece. Approved.<\/span><\/h3>\n\n

This organization cannot function if storms are going to start cosplaying as Ragnar\u00f6k. Next time, check the Doppler, Karen.<\/p>\n\n
